Marian Martin 9768

As you know, I have a love of all (most) things vintage. I am always looking for really great dresses from the 40's. When and if I am successful, I find sizing a real issue (who were these tiny people?). So...my summer plan is to make some 1940 dresses from vintage patterns, and to share the process here. I am taking a bold leap assuming that you love dresses/40's/talking about dresses.

This pattern is a Marian Martin mail order. I tried and failed to find a date for this one. I am guessing early 40's. The only modification to the pattern was the addition of rick-rack. I found the neckline a little tough. The instructions on these early patterns are a little sketchy sometimes. I did not use the iron on provided for the embroidery detail, although it was still in the envelope. I will probably make this again, with the flowers.

Project sofa: fini

It would be a real stretch to call this process (upholstery) a labor of love, since I didn't love any part of it. Okay, I did love the fact that I finished. Unfortunately, it has a matching chair. Since it is still in the before mode I will save the chair for another post.
