t-shirt refashion

A t-shirt refashion to get rid of a flashy logo. I posted the before and after on Wardrobe Refashion.
I'm looking out my window and it is snowing. Unless we take pictures in a snowstorm the photos I planned to shoot today will have to be put on hold. Sigh...

Simplicity 4077

One mens xxl dress shirt to girly blouse via this pattern. The pictures were taken in a vacant house this fall. I have a flickr link in my sidebar if you want to see more.
The skirt is made from vintage bark cloth. The pattern is my own. Just a simple a-line. This is the same pattern I use for the skirts I have on etsy.

On the cutting table... all the laundry I have to put away so I can start my new project.

Extraordinary Women...

Where Women Create by Jo Packam is truly a lovely book. It is full of inspiring work spaces of extraordinary women. While I do love the idea that extraordinary women pay attention to the details of their work spaces...making sure that they surround themselves with visually stimulating inspiration and unique organizational systems. I seem to have a little trouble with the implementation.

This is one of my unique organizational systems. I have the first part down. No problemo. Now I am waiting for the sequel. Where Women Create and Share the Secrets of Where To Hide the Laundry While You Make More Time To Sew. Until then I will have to settle for being merely an ordinary woman.

and now The Rest Of The Story...

A refashioned skirt to go with the Hollywood corset.

This skirt is loosely based on a vogue pattern. It is not a pattern made for knits, but well, here you have it. Whack up five t-shirts, make the skirt a couple sizes smaller than what you'd normally wear. Applique a vintage hankie on the front. Leave the hem for a distressed/deconstructed look. Throw a bit of elastic in the waistband (uh, haven't quite got to that part yet).

Now, you can only name your outfit Hollywood corset if you take your photos next to a bar called The Hollywood. We kicked the beer bottles and dog poo out of our photos, but feel free to leave them, as it does add a certain authenticity to your photo shoot.

credit for the great outfit name goes to my model

Hollywood corset

Way to go Isaspacey, erlthegirl, Doris, Stephanie, and lorrwill the corset guess was right on. The wool is recycled from a men's suit jacket. I used the front which was already interfaced and saved a step. Inserting the grommets was a little scary. When you put a hole in the garment this large there is no moving it over just a hair.
I also got a comment from Scrappinfor3 she wondered if it might be the look for less... and it should be. That project is all cut out and sitting on my sewing table. Sometimes the ideas come way faster than I can implement them. Maybe I just have the crafty version of ADD.

Mcall's 5541

View E made with a thrifted wool skirt. The lining is the same fabric that covers the button. I like the short visor. I'm already planning another with a vintage button on the band. I finished this in December but just now got a chance to take a photo.

On the cutting table...

I actually finished this project tonight. Can you guess what it is? More on this later.
