Project sofa: fini

It would be a real stretch to call this process (upholstery) a labor of love, since I didn't love any part of it. Okay, I did love the fact that I finished. Unfortunately, it has a matching chair. Since it is still in the before mode I will save the chair for another post.

Cool! So how long was the complete process? I have a loveseat to do, but I keep putting it off. I even have the pattern drafted, just need to buy the painter's canvas and start.

The sofa took several days, but I had a lot of interuptions. If you do not think to much ahead, but deal with it one step at a time it's not so bad. It's just a huge time sucker.

Did you have a tutorial to go from? I have two old couches I would love to re-do rather than buy new furniture now. Do you have a direction to point someone it to do this themselves?

Be fearless. Mine were in such bad shape that I had nothing to lose. As I took the old upholstery off I numbered each piece. Then I just put it all back in reverse order. I do not know of a tutorial, however; I am quite sure there is something out there. This community is amazing. One tip I did get from my local upholsterer, use hot glue. Seriously. It works as a second pair of hands until you can get after it with the staple gun.
