Farm Life mailorder 8405

I found a pair of Keds classic white canvas tennis shoes at an estate sale this weekend - which I was looking for by the way. You know where this is going don't you. They needed a day dress to go with. Just sayin...
You think I have crafty attention deficient disorder? really?

I've had the fabric for a couple of years. It came from a box of fabric D found at an auction. It is similar in hand to feed-sack cloth.

My thought for the rick-rack trim was to add something a little more subtle this time. Maybe just add a little texture. Look closer, a little closer (you may have to click on the photo and make it larger) a little closer, there. What do you think? Maybe it's a little to subtle?
So do I go red or black and contrast?

I think I'd like it with red! I saw the blue baby rick rack right away, but I think it would be lost.

Great pattern, btw! :)

I have to agree that you need a darker rik rak. Either red or navy. It is too cute to get lost the way it is. otherwise I am green with envy and adore this dress and fabric.

I hate to disagree with the majority, but I really like the light blue. I think it just depends upon whether or not you want your dress to make a statement with a darker color. I think it'll look good either way, but I like the subtlety of the pale blue.

P.S. I love that fabric!

White would be cute. It will stand out better than the baby blue, but it won't stand out too much. I think it would be a good balance.

I'd say white, or red. Black's too harsh, but the baby blue blends in...

This is a great dress! I love the neckline and the pockets! The rickrack helps to make the pretty parts of the dress, so I would go with a complimenting rickrack, nothing too loud, but enough to see it, I like the white or darker blue idea : )

Actually, I'd go with 2 sizes of rick rack next to each other. Red small or baby and Blue medium or small!

I'd go with a rickrac that will really stand out and shout! That's really cute pattern. Keds? How cool is that?

With this fabric and pattern you just can't go wrong! I like Ellie's idea of using 2 colors and/or sizes. All of the colors suggested would be pretty but I think black would be too harsh. Looking forward to seeing the finished dress!

Red or even a dark pink would look great. Great job on the dress! I love the pattern, too.

I like the white rickrack idea and it would make it very summery. I'd still stick with small or medium sized. Love this dress!

I just found your blog and LOVE it! That fabric is great and I love the neckline of the dress you are making. I vote for red ric rac. And some red or white vintage buttons somewhere....... Can't wait to see how it turns out!
